DIRECTIONAL DRILLING
The modern alternative to traditional trenching, directional drilling, allows tunnels to be bored underground without disrupting the surface. The ideal solution for underground services, horizontal directional drilling is a cost-effective solution for running new cables or pipes into built-up areas, where trenching would not be suitable.
Quick, tidy and environmentally-friendly, directional drilling is the preferred digging system for underground installation of utilities such as power, water, telecommunications, sewerage, ducting etc.
SERVICE CONNECTIONS
Precision jobs call for precision tools, which is why we offer specialised thrusting for installation of private services such as fibre, water, wastewater and power.
Ideal for residential connections where access is difficult, our pneumatic air compression machine can bore a hole in tight areas without disrupting the surface, allowing wiring to be fed under driveways without leaving a trace.
TRENCHING
Meeting the same need as horizontal directional drilling, trenching allows services to be installed underground through an open trench. More disruptive than drilling but with lower costs involved, trenching is more commonly used in paddocks and other open spaces.
This technique is particularly well suited to installing water supply and irrigation in rural properties, such as farms and orchards. Our trenching equipment can also be used in an excavation capacity, creating a level foundation for future building work.
CABLE HAULING
No need to deal with multiple contractors to get the job done. At Eastern Bay Thrusting, we combine horizontal directional drilling with cable hauling to provide an end-to-an-end service that simplifies large projects.
Certified to work with both low and high voltage cables, our cable hauling services are used by industry leaders, including Horizon, Chorus and Downers.

Locally owned and operated for over 30 years
Established in 1989 by our company’s sole Director Grant Preston originally as a one-man operation we have successfully grown and expanded over 30 years in business.
The company is now being co-managed and operated by Grants children Kate and Rhys Preston and boasts a role of 9 locally employed staff.
